El Áspero coastal ecosystem: nature, old culture and local management to build Supe Puerto
This project is the response to an international cooperation initiative with the Peruvian entity CooperAcción, Acción solidaria para el desarrollo, focused on implementing environmental measures and on heritage recovery. Funded by Fundación ICO –through Fundación Lonxanet in February 2007– this Peruvian organisation is responsible for the recovery of the archaeological remains recently discovered in Supe Puerto. Due to its extension and architectural complexity it is the most important settlement of one of the first civilisations in the world. It is also involved in stimulating local capacity to assimilate the tourist opportunities that El Áspero will trigger.
