The Fundación Lonxanet for Sustainable Fishing advocates a holistic and systemic model that makes artisanal fishing economically and socially viable, acting on the factors that threaten the existence of traditional fishing communities around the world. FLPS ensures the role of the fishermen as the true managers of the marine environment, as our principles show: turning the fishermen into the real protagonists of change or defending the redistribution of achievements and successes among the largest number of social agents involved in a project. A greater efficiency of marine resources, ensuring environmental sustainability, and consolidating a closer relationship between fishermen and society, are the priorities of the foundation’s rationale.
